Remembrance Memorabilia

Last week I launched a crowdfunding page to raise money for Remembrance, a web campaign that aims to connect younger audiences with events of the First World War. I have produced a range of visual memorabilia to serve as reminders of the Centenary for all those supporting this project.

Please check out the Kickstarter page to pledge for any of the above memorabilia, and contribute to the cause.

The Escape Committee Website

The Escape Committee is a Brighton based design agency who specialise in creating high level experiences through the web and film. Over the years they have worked with some of the worlds leading music organisations such as ABRSM and IMG Artists.

I recently worked in collaboration with them to design their new website, which showcases selected client projects and their ongoing creative activities. Playing a lead role in such a big project was an exciting yet unnerving experience! We are now working together to develop a fresh identity for the agency, which builds upon some of the concepts and visual language which I created for the site.

Pocket Pictograms

I have just got round to finalising a little project that combines some of my experiments with illustration and web design. Pocket Pictograms is a collection of icons based on pocket-sized objects, presented in an intriguing yet simple interactive format. The collection is freely available for anybody to download through the fantastic pay with a tweet social payment system.

Check out the Pocket Pictograms website here.

Photo Focus: combining photography with digital interaction

I produced a quick research project while experimenting with my new Panasonic DX1 over the last few weeks.

It consists of a short series of images that have a basic hover state applied - this appears to change the focal point of the photographs when they are rolled over. Check the final result here

Swift advances in technology are bringing new ways to take and experiencing pictures. I predict that hover states like these will soon be quick and easy to produce, giving images on the web added depth and a more personal touch.

Remembrance 2012

This November I launched an online campaign to raise awareness of Remembrance Day in the form of an interactive animation. The site tells the story of the red poppy traditionally worn every year, and helps people remember those who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy today.

It received quite a bit of attention online - it won Site of the Day on Design Licks and was featured on the new (and fantastic) Hoverstat.es blog curated by ChambersJudd, who happen to be one of my favourite interactive agencies.

I plan on continuing to create more microsites like this on down the line, so keep up to date! You can check out the Remembrance site here.

Website Up-haul
I am currently in the process of designing and building my portfolio website from scratch. My brother recommended me these books - highly valuable advice to any up-and-coming designer.

Three excellent reads for people who design websites
These are the latest books I’ve recently added from ‘A Book Apart’ collection. Concise and insightful, they are an excellent resource for the modern day agile web designer offering tips from industry experts Mike Monteiro, Luke Wroblewski and Ethan Marcotte.
If you havent already, buy them here.

Forest Frames: Interactive Website Now Live!
An interactive website I created in collaboration with Max Smith is now live! The site explores 3 natural habitats found in the British Countryside, and through the use of clickable frames users are able to explore each habitat in more detail.
The site takes a little while to load but its worth the wait! You can check it out here.
